VILLASIS, Pangasinan – Street dancers of Don Ramon E. Costales Memorial National High School (DRECMNHS) represented the town’s Talong Festival and dominated the first ever invitational street dancing competition of Panagkakadwa Festival 2017 held in San Felipe, Zambales on April 1.

The champion danced away with the grand prize of P300, 000. They also grabbed the award for Best in Street Dancing and won 2nd runner-up in the Festival Queen competition where they bagged separate special prizes worth P10, 000 and P 2,000 respectively.

Talong Festival bested six other festival delegations during the contest which includes Pamulinawen Festival of Laoag City, IlocosNorte; Abel Festival of Caoayan, Ilocos Sur; Mango Festival of Zambales and Dimaliw Festival of Tondo, Manila.

The team was comprised of 60 dancers, 20 props men and 20 musicians from the said school. They were accompanied by some teachers of DRECMNHS led by Evelyn Alcantara who served as their coordinator. They were also supported by their principal, Dr. Rowena Lea G. Moreno, along with the heads of the different departments.

“They enjoyed every moment of the competition. They were more challenged when they watched the performances of the other contingents.” said Evelyn Alcantara.

Moreover, the transportation allowance for the participants was given by the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) of the said institution. Likewise, the transportation of props and props men was taken care through the kindness of the Municipal Mayor Nonato S. Abrenica.

The team is currently waiting for the invitation from the organizers of the Festivals of the North in Dagupan City to be held on April 29.
