MURANG BIGAS PARA SA BAYAN has been launched to meet the dual goals of safeguarding the welfare of farmers and providing affordable, quality rice to the community. Under this initiative, locally produced rice is bought by the local government unit and processed at the newly installed rice milling facility in the municipality. The rice is then offered to Villasis residents, with priority given to indigent families at a subsidized price of P30.00 per kilogram.
Barangays Amamperez, Barangobong, Bacag, Capulaan, Barraca, and Caramutan were the first barangays to benefit from the program. The program will be extended to all the barangays of Villasis to allow more residents to access affordable rice.
This program is one of the priority projects of Mayor Abrenica with the support of the Sangguniang Bayan of Villasis.
