The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Provincial Office conducted an Anti-Illegal Drug Symposium coordinated with the local government unit and PNP Villasis, last Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the Public Auditorium. The symposium aimed to educate the participants most especially the drug-surrenderees how to fight the lure of illegal drugs and its effects.
Agent Jerico Jorge Inocencio from PDEA Provincial Office lectured about RA 9165 known as the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act”, its scope and its penalties. Ms. Melissa N. Estrada who’s also from PDEA Provincial Office and Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Gloria Liberato tackled the effects of illegal drugs in health and community.
Vice Mayor Jesus Franco A. Sison, Jr. and Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council Focal Person, Former Councilor Rolando Morden gave their inspirational messages during the activity.
The symposium was attended by the PNP Officers headed by PCI Brendon Palisoc, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer, Lilibeth Abrenica, ACCV Officer, Ptr. Ronnie Realin, Barangay Officials and the drug surrenderees.
LGU’s doing their part on eradicating the illegal drugs in the municipality as they implemented their new program last February, the Aksyon ng Barangay Konseho Kontra Droga (ABAKADA), and conducting community-based rehabilitation programs.
Villasis is now on the list of municipalities soon to be declared “drug-cleared”.
